Popin Joins The Scrum With Cardiff Rugby

2022 sees Popin Graphics extend our support to Cardiff Rugby with the acquisition of our new hospitality box on the Taff end of Cardiff Arms Park. With unparalleled views of the pitch and a heated space along with food and drinks, the box offers exciting new ways to enjoy rugby and allows Popin to offer new levels of hospitality to our clients.

Cardiff Rugby is one of the four professional Welsh rugby union teams. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and in European Professional Club Rugby competitions. Based in Cardiff, the team play at the Cardiff Arms Park.

Along with the acquisition of the box, Popin is also sponsoring players for the season further cementing our relationship with Cardiff Rugby.

2022/23 Season

Popin sponsored James Ratti for the 2022/23 season. James Ratti initially joined up with Cardiff RFC after departing his home club, Ospreys. However, impressive performances for the Rags led to a professional contract at the Arms Park and the utility forward hasn't looked back since. Having come through the ranks as a lock, Ratti made the transition to being a number eight in the latter half of the 2020/21 campaign and is now able to offer versatility in the pack. His reward since converting to the back row was rewarded with call-ups to the national squad.

2023/24 Season

Popin renewed their hospitality box for 2023/24 and also sponsored another player for the season in the form of Rory Thornton. Towering in at 6ft 7in, Rory is a former Wales under-20 captain and made his senior international debut during the 2017 summer tour of the Pacific Islands. A graduate of the Ospreys' academy, the lock signed a loan deal with Cardiff ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, and made a permanent move to the Welsh capital the following summer. He would go on to make his 50th club appearance against Dragons in October 2021.

A Place Of History

The rugby ground, which was also used by Wales, was developed over the years to incorporate new stands and became known as the National Stadium. With an overall capacity of 60,000, the ground hosted the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.

In October 1966, the world's first floodlit game was held at Cardiff Arms Park, with Cardiff beating the Barbarians 12-8.

By 1969, the cricket ground was demolished and made way for a restructured Arms Park with the WRU's National Stadium to the south and Cardiff Rugby in the north. The National Stadium was later redeveloped for the 1999 Rugby World Cup as the Millennium Stadium - and later renamed to the Principality Stadium (2016).

In 2013, Cardiff Rugby invested in a new artificial 3G surface at the Arms Park, which provides a fit for purpose rugby and football surface as well as it being a model place to hold a range of activities for corporate and community clients.

"Passion drives us, creativity fuels us, and a relentless commitment to excellence propels us forward. At Popin Graphics, we're on a mission to be the very best at what we do. Your brand's success is our driving force."
